The assignment asks for a discussion of the conflicting ideas generated by one's work:

The use of the word conflicting increased from 1800 to 2018, surging between 1800 and 1840, and again between 1900 and 1980 though with a more uneven trajectory. (see goggle ngrams)

The assignment suggests we synthesize and cohere these ideas into several possible directions:

There are many methods of cohering or synthesizing conflicting ideas.

Coherence suggests that some agreed upon logic (or truth) can be reached from a set of multiples, often seemingly unrelated, or illogical even on their own.
